Blessed Peter Higgins was a Dominican priest who was martyred on 23 March 1642 AD in Dublin. He was prior of the Dominican monastery at Naas in County Kildare. Fr. Peter refused to acknowledge the English monarch as head of the Catholic Church for which he was sentenced to death for treason. He was hanged at Stephen's Green in Dublin and apparently forgave his executioners before his death. His feast day is 20 June.
